The most commonly used gear materials are forged steel, cast steel and cast iron.Forged steel has high strength and impact resistance. Heat treatment can improve its mechanical properties, increase load-bearing capacity and wear resistance.

Commonly used cast steels are ZG40 and ZG45.Cast iron is often used to make low-stress, non-impact, low-speedgear.

The working conditions of gear transmission are different, and the situation of tooth damage is different, and the selection of materials is different, such as:

1. For gear transmissions with impact loads, materials with better toughness should be used.

2. For gears with higher speed, materials with higher tooth surface hardness should be used.

3. For low-speed and heavy-duty gear transmissions, materials with good strength and hardness should be used.
