The forming hobbing method can process end gears with various tooth shapes.The following figure shows the hobbing intention of the machined end tooth forming.

When hobbing the end gear, it can be hobbed on an ordinary gear hobbing machine or a special gear hobbing machine, but the following two major issues must be paid attention to:

1. The outer diameter of the forming hob must be checked and calculated and cannot exceed the maximum diameter of the hob.

2. The tooth number of the forming hob and the tooth number of the face gear must meet: the number of cutter teeth is not a prime factor of the number of hob teeth, otherwise the error on a certain tooth of the forming hob will directly affect the tooth profile of the workpiece.
