Principle: Use the meshing principle of rack and gear to grind gear teeth.During processing, each reciprocating roll of the cut gear will complete the grinding of one or two tooth surfaces. Therefore, multiple indexing and processing are required to complete the processing of all gear tooth surfaces.

1. Conical grinding wheel gear grinding processing:


Use the side surface of the tapered grinding wheel to form the flank of one tooth of the imaginary rack to grind the gear, as shown in Figure b.During processing, in addition to the main rotating motion B1, the grinding wheel also performs longitudinal linear motion A2 in order to grind the entire tooth width.The forming movement is the same as that of the disc-shaped grinding wheel.


The 4 movements required for tooth grinding of a tapered wheel are as follows:


a. Main motion: the rotating motion of the grinding wheel;


b. The reciprocating rolling that has been ground out;


c. The reciprocating feed movement of the grinding wheel along the tooth direction;


d. Indexing movement: After grinding a tooth slot, the grinding wheel automatically retreats, and the ground gear automatically rotates through a tooth angle.


Advantages and disadvantages:


a. The production efficiency is higher than the grinding teeth of the disc-shaped grinding wheel: due to the higher rigidity of the conical grinding wheel, a larger cutting amount can be selected.


b. The processing accuracy is low: the shape of the grinding wheel is not easy to be trimmed accurately, and the wear is fast and uneven.


2. Tooth grinding processing of disc-shaped grinding wheel:


Disc grinding wheels use the end planes of two disc grinding wheels to form the two tooth flanks of the imaginary rack, as shown in Figure a, to simultaneously grind the left and right tooth surfaces of the tooth groove.


When working, the main rotating movement of the grinding wheel B1 The workpiece rotates B31 and linearly moves A32 at the same time. These two movements of the workpiece are the generative movements required to form the involute tooth profile;


In order to grind the entire tooth width, the workpiece also needs to make an axial feed movement A2;


After each tooth is ground, the workpiece still needs to be indexed.


Advantages and disadvantages:


a. The machining precision is high, and the gear grinding precision is high, up to level 4, which is the highest gear grinding precision among all kinds of gear grinding machines.


b. The rigidity of the grinding wheel is poor, the grinding amount is limited, and the productivity is low.


XNUMX. Continuous indexing development method:


The working principle is the same as that of the gear hobbing machine, but the axial feed movement is generally completed by the workpiece.The gear grinding machine working by the continuous indexing generation method uses a worm-shaped grinding wheel to grind the gear teeth.

Advantages and disadvantages:


1. Since the grinding is continuous during the machining process, its productivity is the highest among all types of gear grinding machines.


2. This gear grinding method is suitable for batch and mass production of small and medium module gears.


3. The disadvantage is that the grinding wheel is difficult to dress, and it is not easy to achieve high precision. The grinding wheel needs to be replaced when grinding gears with different modules. The speed of each transmission link in the transmission chain connecting the grinding wheel and the workpiece is very high. Mechanical transmission is easy to produce noise and wear. Faster.
